Stained Leather
Stained Leather
Howdy Y'all, here's a problem I just noticed and would like some opinions.
I have the grey leather interior. Last weekend, while doing some spring cleaning, I noticed a horizontal stain on the front drivers seat on the back support. It turns out that a brown leather belt I recently bought has been staining the seat back. I tried using a cleaning wipe and had no success. I also tried a leather cleaner and conditioner that I use and had no luck with that either.
Does anyone know of a specific product I should try? Anyone have any tips or tricks to getting this cleaned?

I agree that you should contact someone in the know. You could cause more problems then you started with but here is a link to a site and some suggestions: http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=344533
I used hairspray to deal with the same issue and while it did take some of it out, it did not remove it completely. I tried all kinds of cleaning agents on a pair of Corvette leather seats I just picked up and could not get it removed. I took it to someone and my only option was a re-dye. Yours may not be as bad....
Yeah, sounds like a real problem. Maybe the stain used on the belt transferred to the leather seat. If that's the case, as someone suggested above, I would try a leather conditioning shop or maybe a good antique furniture refinishing shop who specializes in leather chairs, etc.
Good luck...
Good luck...
in my impala ss, my black belt left a similar stain. i was able to get it off, but unfortunately i also took some of the grey dye off too. i had to have a shop re-dye, and when they were doing it they told me that either way (if i hadnt removed the black and part of the grey) i would have had to come to them!
Well, if I have to get this done professional I guess I will live with it for the time being. I have been planning to do suede inserts but becuase of some trips and other things I decided to do instead I will have to wait for some more money to come my way.
Thanks for the input y'all!

Stained Leather
My chevy dealer has replaced my driver side seat-back cashmere leather twice,
on my '07 HHR for the "staining problem".
I am convinced it is from certain types of belts us guys wear.
I have had GM cars in the past with lighter colored leather and did not notice the same problem.
I wonder what GM would say about it?
on my '07 HHR for the "staining problem".

My light grey leather is doing the same thing. I thought it was one certain belt, but turns out all of my belts are causing it. I had light grey leather in my '03 Impala and had no issues at all -- and I'm wearing the same belts, no change.
