Switching to synthetic oil.
Noooo....some only change back when oil usage gets too expensive...if its burning a qt every 1000 miles its adds up pretty quick, and dino is thicker sorta so it slows the burn rate down.
That's me doing it. Around $8/qt. + $ 20 for the Mobile 1 filter. I would never trust anyone else working on my 240...especially changing the oil. I have a large performance oil pan that increases capacity so I always do it to make sure it's topped off properly.
WOW you pay 20$ US for a Mobile 1 oil filter? I pay 11$ and 6$ aqt last year. Maybe they went up in price here as well.
Disclosure:
I reserve the right to change my mind as I see fit :)
If you have been using synthetic oil for some period of time, you shouldn't see the problems mentioned. But if you have concerns, M1 does provide a synthetic for higher mileage cars, if the need arises.
But listen, and this is not scientific, but I have switched 3 vehicles over the years, from dino to synthetic. I never had any problems. In fact I converted my old 2002 Impala from dino to M1 when I had the Dexcool intake repair done. That was at about 30,000. My GD continued to use it for another 35,000 without any problems.
