Also note that SUPPLIER is the blender list. BRANDS are the brands or rebrander. Shell blends it's dexos oils themselves
"Universal Lubricants" is a separate "blender". They blend "Eco Ultra Synthetic Blend" Motor Oil.
GM recently announced that Shell, the world’s largest lubricant supplier, is now licensed to manufacture and market Dexos engine oil. Dexos is required for all GM Buick, Chevrolet, Cadillac and GMC vehicles starting with the 2011 model year. Shell’s initial Dexos licensed offerings are Pennzoil Platinum and Quaker State Ultimate Durability synthetic engine oils.
The first Eco Ultra Synthetic Blend dexos1-approved 5W-30 Motor Oil went into production this week at the company’s state-of-the-art re-refinery and blending facility in Wichita, Kansas.
The dexos1 specification was specially designed to meet the exacting requirements of GM’s advanced gasoline engine technology. Administered by The Center for Quality Assurance, the dexos licensing program requires that blenders like Universal Lubricants be facility accredited and undergo product testing prior to final licensing.

There are 4 licensed Blenders (manufacturers) that sell their product to Rebranders (marketers). I did read it multiple times before I not only quoted it but posted the link. I never said there is only one blender.
Go ahead and become the fifth Blender if you like, you posted the link that tells you how to. I don't know what bearing that has on the discussion.
There is also a link that tells you how to become a licensed rebrander.
But then, I don't know how DEXOS2 got into the discussion at all, except that nobody specified DEXOS1. And for the purposes of Blenders there is no distinction.

I don't know how to interpret that as anything other than there are 4 Licensed manufacturers of DEXOS and many Brands of DEXOS.
The list of brands (labels on the shelf) has nothing to do with the list of Blenders, it does not even say which brand uses which blender. So, if you want to be a real Brand Loyalist you would have to find out which Blender you are getting your product from on any given day.

You also seem to think that the additive suppliers are the manufacturers AKA blenders but they are not. They are suppliers of the additives and the listed suppliers then blend their oils to be sold to us or to rebranders.

Just start using Dexos as you will not void the warranty. Also the oils are a better grade than the non syn or syn blended oils.
Your oil goes longer and the cost balances out anyways.
It will not be long before all new cars will come with a syn oil in them and many other MFGs will have rating requirements. GM was only the first to do this and from what I have read others will soon follow.
I changed to Mobil One years ago and do my own oil changes. Since then all my cars but one and my House Generator all require a syn or blended oil. It is that much better that nearly everyone will go to it if they have not already have.
My GMC dealer also asked about what Oil I was using as he was ready to jump on me about the brand and he stopped when I said it was Dexos and Mobil One. He said I should have no issues.
Note these oils came about around the time when Direct Injection arrived. I have wondered if this is to help with the Carbon build up on intake valves. The reason being is the oil will seep a little in the guide to lube the valve. This often would be cleaned by the fuel passing over it. DI injects into the cylinder and no more fuel to clean. Syn oils are more heat resistant and should not carbon as easily.
Not sure if this is why but I am sure it may be at least part of the reason for the changes. The timing was there and the issue was a big one at Audi before this in DI engines.

I have an 08 HHR(bought new) with a 2.4 L, and I've used Mobile 1 5W30 from day 1. Using the oil - life monitor as a guide, I change oil AND filter when it reads 10% life left. I get around 8500-9000 miles between changes. So for me it IS cost effective. I now have 96,508 miles on my H. It runs as good as the day I bought it and my garage floor is free of oil spots. Just my 2 cents.

I also use Mobile 1 Full Synthetic , in all my cars and motorcycle's.. When my HHR was at the dealer for snow tire change over I had them change the oil.. They used Mobile 1 Full Synthetic.. I'
