Synthetic Oil
Is the Oil indicator Based on Mileage rather than Oil condition?
May be a dumb question but when using Mobil 1 (Dexos 1 approved) that engine oil percentage does not seem to care. It still fires off around the 5k mark.
I did check the Mobil 1 Extended life High Mileage oil and notice it does not have the Dexos stamp of approval. Opss!!

Well, the book says it is based on a performance AlGorethm. My personal experience is approx 13,000 miles.
I don't recommend the use of ANY "high mileage" "extended life" or whatever oils. They have additives that are not necessarily "good" in the long run.

Good old oil threads never die lol . But a lot of good reading for me at least :) Like a lot here I can not go the manufacture change time. Yes old school used to be3 k changes lol. I go about 5/6k with 100% Synthetic in my HHR .My RAM and my bikes ! For the few extra $$$ for me it is cheap insurance to maintain a vehicle ! But that is me, IMO Proper Oil changes are one of the most important parts to help a car run longer !
In my HHR, I used whatever Full Synthetic was cheapest at the time I was in the store, and only used AC Delco filters. I changed every 6-7 thousand miles, at that point the percentage of oil life was down to like 55% or something. I did a lot of highway miles.
