Tired of changing Thermostat

Hey folks, I have a 2006 LS and for the first 4 maybe 5 years the OEM t-stat worked fine, but then one winter of course it started sticking.
Well after replacing it the old one I found that it was not sticking but the inner o-ring had broken therefore it wasn't closing properly.

Ok so for the next few years I have had the same thing happen every year!

Have to admit I have been using T-stats from Kragen or Autozone. Yeah they have a warranty and I can get a new one for nothing, but I'm tired of this happening every year.

Anyone else experience this and what brand of T-stat are you using.

Guess I'm getting to the question of do I go OEM from the dealer?

Thanks for any input on this.

There are a couple of different designs. One of them has no rubber, I couldn't tell you which one, but one is in my car now.

You just have to look at them in the store.

I just replaced T-stat on my '07 2.2 liter, the new GM stat did not have the rubber like the original stat, so, I would advise, go get the GM one and stop the madness!!!! and enjoy the heat!!

Yep, for the price of it, I'd go with the GM one if you're having troubles. I have one from O'Reilly in my car, and it's been fine after the OEM one stuck open at around 65K miles.

I think they are about the same price from GM, but you still need to eyeball it before you buy.

Thanks folks I'll go by the local dealership and see if I can get one of the new style t-stats.
