Here is a good diagram, post #7

well now I don't know, that diagram all seems to be internal stuff.

This diagram shows external stuff, but I don't see anything where your picture shows.

Found this and a couple other diagrams but none point to this location..this one is in next to oil filter below the wide thermostat hose
is this tranny related?..not too far from tranny fill plug

Yes, transmission. The back edge of the engine is the right edge(from the view in your picture) of the oil filter housing.

Only thing I can remember in that area is the transmission cooler lines or the transmission wiring harness.

Searched for (all/most)transmission sensors via auto parts website and compared with photos but none resemble this one

Isn’t that diagram backwards for what you’re looking for ? The side you can’t see would show the sensor you’re looking for ?
Sorry. I only had a 5 speed. Forgive me if I’m viewing this wrong.

Yes, backwards. The VSS is on the back of the trans.
I can't think of anything that could drip oil around that area, more likely drip from filter changing.

Solved.
Mine is an 09 hhr 2.4..its my understanding that this year and up no longer have oil coolers(which checks out;dont have one). I dont know the exact name for this part but had local shop check it out and yes it is a "transmission connector" not a common sensor. Tranny shop to check this next week. Wish me luck lol
