I got about 5 years before I had a very slow crank after a few days parked. I went ahead and replaced.

My mother just replaced the original battery in her 06 Cobalt. It'a rare, but does happen. Storage and the battery tender helps.

When I bought mine, I was still stripping performance parts from my old car and driving it to try and sell it, while the HHR sat in the driveway for about a month (June-July). My battery was shot once I tried to drive it - after only about 3.5 years. Heat is a big issue.

If it's in a garage on a tender, you are probably good for a while yet. My S-10 made it 8 years on a Delco battery years ago, and it was garaged most of the time - driven in the summer only.

Uhmmm heat in Mich vs AZ ???? Both my cars mentioned above sit in the direct sun most if not all day long and we get 6 months straight of 100*+. Some of those months being above 110* every single day. Some of those days topping out at 118*-120*

It probably wasn't heat that killed your battery.

Just my opinion based on available research, but your battery longevity is the result of an EXCELLENT battery charger....you can't beat the technology that Battery Tender uses.

I now ROUTINELY install a Battery Tender on each vehicle for 1-2 days each month, allowing the complete cycle, as a maintenance issue.

The battery in my 08 is still fine in spite of being totally drained and jumped a few times. This past winter was the first time on a battery tender as i had a winter beater available. Otherwise it had been a daily driver.

How long did your OEM battery last?

The OEM battery in my 2006 HHR is still going strong after 9.5 years. I've never had an OEM battery last that long. Just wondering if others are experiencing similar longevity. Of course now that I've brought the subject up, the battery will probably die tomorrow.
