No that wasn't it. My connections were totally clean as is the rest of my SS. Mine looks and drives like the day i bought it new. Had the battery tested and it would not hold a charge any more. Sometimes it just has had it's time.
Anyways, I'd rather be driving around and not have to worry about the same thing happening again when I'm not close to home.

Well, the battery crapped out on Christmas Eve. 10 years and 3 months from a battery isn't too bad!

For a Delco battery, that lifespan falls under "Exceptional", I'm a GM guy to the core(just ignore the Crown Vic Interceptor & Plymouth GTX), and I stop trusting Delco batteries at five years.

But like the fine print on the window sticker says "Your actual mileage may vary", the same applies to your battery's lifespan.

I ended up getting the Autozone Duralast Gold one. They even put it in for me without me asking. I made sure the vent plug was in the one side and the vent was hooked up on the other just like the one that came out.

Just had my battery replaced at the dealer because I thought I had a bad fuel pump luckily turned out to be bad battery..... Service rep when he called told me he was astonished to find the original battery in the car which is an 06 model manufactured mid 2005! That's over 10 years on a battery! I was very surprised.

Well over 8 years, probably over 9, five of those winters in the colder north. My 2007 was built in 2006, and stood on the lot for many months before I bought it so that wasn't a good start for it. Couldn't find a date code on the battery, but it was dead after being parked over the holidays.

Time to resurrect this thread.

Time and heat finally took it's toll on my factory battery. I forget the build date but my 07 LS was first registered in Feb 07 here in AZ. I took the battery to it's last breath on 7/5/17. So almost 10.5 years of service.

It was done. Truly done. It would no longer take a charge. I got lucky having it start for me when I left work in the morning. But while it started up, after a mile or so my on board volt meter dropped down into the 12s and stayed in that range no matter what I turned on or off. So I left it running while I went into by my replacement AC Delco battery at a near by dealership. The voltage stayed down there for the rest of my drive home even though I was running the AC and my stereo and once I shut it off that was it.

The AC Delco battery in our Ion is not the factory one based on the label colors. But we have not changed it out since we bought the car in June of 09. It is still going strong too. Having the battery away from the engine compartment sure does add life to these already good batteries.

I replaced my original last year, but that wasn't the problem... So, It's on the shelf in perfect condition and over 10 years old. (I cycle it from time to time so it doesn't go flat)

i, as well, have an 06 with the original battery.......have to believe that having the battery mounted away from a source of insane heat(the engine) has a lot to do with it.............still cranks very strong....car runs great...

Park it outside in the winter in the cold, and things change a lot.

Replaced original in July 2011
Replaced that Duralast Gold in January 2015.
Replaced another Duralast Gold in November 2016 (finally got some warranty love).

I'm in Detroit, but park outside all the time, and travel a bit for work. (Vehicle gets major cold soak while I am on the road).
