Thank you and every one else. I will up-date every one after my visit today at the Cancer Treatment Fuel Station. Yes the price of fuel today is $1.95 a gal in my area. I must go and get ready to hit the E-85 fuel station.

Well Yeasturday I started my 2ND stasge of Chemo and man was that a long day I arrived at 1030 AM and they didn't start my Chemo till 1330 hrs They had a patient have breathing problen and they had to call an Ambulance to take this 68 yr old man to the Hospital. So now thay started my Chemo just like the last one. I am to take Vitamin B6 - 50 mg three times a day to minimize any side effects.
Todays treatment involved the following:
A. one bag of sodium chloride injection USPKCL 10 mg [Time :: 1 hour]
B. one bag of taxotere 170 mg (chemo) [Time :: 1 hour]
C. Saline flush [Time :: 40 mins]
D.one bag of emend 150 mg [Time :: 30 mins]
E. Redo step B [Time :: 2 hours] (chemo solution)
-Gave an injection through the port to clear the chemo out of me, causing me to use the washroom every 10 - 15 minutes for the 2 hours of chemo.
F. Saline flush [Time :: 30 mins]
By the time a got home I just fell a sleep, Today is a good day Its my Birthday and I turned 56, and I am just laying on the couch and watching Comcast while I get my ChemoOnly in America can you do this so they say, Take you Chemo home and watch T.V.I can not wait for all this to be over and them have them tell me that they got it all and I will be OK. I would not wish this on any one. I will keep you all informed as I go on this long Chemo trip. later Crazy Rudy

hello everyone, as many of you have noticed, dad has not been online lately. many of you have sent him thanksgiving wishes and i will pass those on to him. mom and i ussually do a series of phone calls when dad goes into the hospital, but to be honest with you, this time i could not do it. keeping everyone informed is what dad wants, and ive told him i would, however its just too hard to talk about it over and over again. i figured an email would be best. wednesday dad went to the cancer center to receive fluids because he was feeling dehydrated. when they saw his port in his chest they decided to call the doctor because it was red and causing a little discomfort. dad proceeded to go home with my mom to continue waiting. by the time they pulled up to the house they received a phone call to take him to the hospital asap. his port in his chest had become infected. he is hospitalized at st margarets in hammond. he received surgery to have the port removed yesterday morning at 0700. he wanted to have it removed on thanksgiving, but was told the hospital would not do it unless it was life threatening. this was due to the holiday and lack of surgeons available. they plan on putting in another port to finish his chemo... once they find out how his body is reacting to the infection as well as the antibiotics they are giving him. due to his low count of white blood cells and platelets........ hes immune system is extremely low and he is having a little bit of a hard time fighting it off. i have been there everyday to visit him. he only wants company for short periods of time due to the fact that his sores are back in his mouth. this is causing him to have a hard time talking. hopefully with the medications they will go away within a day. the surgeon has cleared him to go home with his wound packed from surgery... however since he still cannot eat, or shall i say keep solids down, they are keeping him in the hospital as a precaution. right after surgery he wanted a donut because i had brought them for our family who was there for surgery. i told him no and he proceeded to yell at me. so i gave it to him and told him it would eventually come back up. hmmm who do you think was right? lol. today he called me asking for a hershey bar with almonds. i will keep you all posted on that one. lol. i will be checking his yahoo mail account from my laptop. i do not feel confortable using his work address, so if you have any questions or want to send messages to him i can do that for you. we will also be moving up our family christmas to probably the 14th of december. we are doing this because the doctors are predicting that his next round of chemo to begin on december 18th...providing everything goes as planned. we are still waiting to see how his body reacts to the treatments he is receiving for the infection. we do not know what type of infection it is. the doctor took cultures and tissue samples while dad was in surgery yesterday. however the doctor told is that it is not very uncommon for this to happen. many cancer patients have their first port receive an infection, or perhaps the body is not happy with the location of where it is. i believe they will put in the other port in his chest as well, just on the other side. if i hear anymore i will email everyone again. hopefully the next email will have better news.... or better yet... be from him thank you all very much for being there for him. our entire family thanks you! sincerely, jessica
