HELP!
Flex pipe on my 08 2.2 LT is completely blown. Is there an easier replacement than spending upwards of 700$ to get the whole thing replaced? money is tight and im tired of riding in the middle of what sounds like 5 million angry hornets.

 

How many miles? The flex pipe is part of the cat and should be covered under the 8/80K emissions warranty from what I've read......

 

unfortunately I'm at 97300 and the 2nd owner of the car.

 

Bummer........ Being the second owner wouldn't matter but mileage got you there.

A few guys in similar situations have had a good muffler shop replace only the flex pipe, leaving the stock cat. It's a weld in job but worked out well and didn't cost an arm and a leg.

 

This sounds like a magnaflow. Had it running side by side with rainmans (magnaflow) sounded like stereo.

 

I have the same dilema, I have heard the Magnaflow, nice, and the Flowmaster 44, deep, and the straight pipe, mousey, so I just kept my cash and the stock muffler for now.

 

Guy's I talked with a Tech at Flowmaster, and he suggested that I use a Series 50 three chamber muffler. I have not regreted it since, has been on for about 60K and love the tone, increase in MPG is about 2. I got it installed with a stainless tip for under $125.00

Did he mention the Delta flow 60 series by chance? Their site says they are geared for Imports/4 cyl's mainly. From what I know of their 40 vs 50 series the 50's are quieter then the 40's (three chamber vs 2 or 1 chamber) which makes me wonder if te 60's would be quieter yet.

 

Sorry for the late reply. No they did not. They strongly suggested the 50 series 3 chamber, because I did not want a loud drone inside, just a nice tone outside.
