this came up on FB page also..I wanted to do something similar as well but those with the 2.2 or 2.4 with and aftermarket air intake system probably wont work since the filter will suck in all the water as the filter sits right under that vent

I think it would be cool for a 2.2/2.4 with the airaid intake. The itnake box sits where the stock one does, except there is not enclosure on the top, just a rubber seal the snugs up to the hood when you close it. I bet having a vent there would give for maximum cold air intake effect, plus the distance to the throttle body would be very short. However, like in my 2006, you may experience problems with the MAF thinking there is a lean condition and throwing a code. When I had my airaid there was literally nothing I could do to fix it, and ended up having to go back to stock. Might be because its a 2006 2.4, later model years with 2.2/2/4 report no issues with aftermarket intake system. Shame really. But, the stock box isnt too restrictive as is! These engines breathe pretty well!
