Body shop guys: advice please
If it's a waste of their time....find another shop. I've never known a paint/body shop to turn down the almighty $ no matter how much of a waste of time they think it is.
Plast Aid is good stuffs....works well. Used it before with great results when repairing minor cracks in plastics of all kind. It won't work if the area is big and gets "flexed" alot like some bumpers may.

I sent an email to the company asking about shrinkage, sandability, edge feathering, rigidity vs ABS, and automotive paint prep. This stuff has been around for a while, I'm kinda surprised it's not everywhere.
I also found a couple vids on YouTube. One showed how it filled cracks in a Ranchero steering wheel, the other was modding an overhead console.
I have to say, I'm excited about this stuff. I hope the answers I get from them decide it for me. If not, I have a few other uses for it.
The only concern I'd have is when shutting the hood. Major vibrations though not that often I'd imagine. Be gentle when closeing the hood OR add some type of "stiffner" in, like small strips of metal or even wood (think popcicle sticks) into the Plasti-Aid mix or put the Plasti-Aid on top of the stiffners........
I understand what you're saying, but I'm not sure why I'd need to. I'll have all the factory support pieces in place and a mesh behind the grille that will add some support. The biggest areas that would be Plast-aid are the gaps where the two bars were.
I know, right? The rock and bolt thing in the video was astounding.
