Factory HHR side stripes
#2
Those stripes were usually applied by the dealership as a bit of eye candy(and a way to boost the markup on new units), there are several styles. I've seen the ones you've described, and there are ones that end in a Chevy Bow-Tie, or the letters HHR.
Check with the parts department at you local Chevy dealership, or have a look on e-bay.

I believe there was a Spring Edition or Fall Edition (someone correct me) that came with side stripes something like you describe..

I believe the "Fall Editions" were striped as you said sleeper, but they were all darker colors if memory serves me right.
tcgrmt saw black stripes on something, but that makes me think it was white/silver/red which in my mind makes them one of the dealer installed varieties.

I have a silver stripe on mine that ends with HHR. It was apparently a factory option (according to compnine, anyway), but it was also kind of rare. I almost removed it when I first got mine, but it has grown on me since.
