Grill painting question
I nabbed a satin grill to mod into a 3 bar, and plan on painting it after the surgery.
My question is..does the satin plating need to be peeled off, or can I get by with a light scuffing of the surface.

Our grill originally started it's life as a Satin finish grill and we just scuffed with 400g sand paper and sprayed an adhession promoter before painting
!
When I finished doing the 3 bar mod I chose to have the body shop spray it with the factory color
! Would strongly recommend applying 3M Clear Bra material (as our's has) after you finish your grill as to pro-long the paints life from flying debre
.....

ps; officer5150 will probably have some imput on how you should really go about doing this as he has something to say about everything, wether he has
done it or not

That was most uncalled for. I'm nothing but helpful, if I've heard something about something being asked, I will pass along what I heard, or if I've done something personally, I will share my experience. If you have a problem with me, tell me via PM, do not cut me down publicly.
I've been photoshopin' some different "looks", but it's hard to beat the look of a basic 3 bar version.
It is best to strip that coating off before painting. I, too, went with the no bar/deep look. I ended up using a 4X4 ABS mailbox post I bought at Home Depot out of their clearance section. I used the outer section of the original grille so I wouldn't have to make mounting tabs. The mesh is also from HD. I'd also recommend not glueing the mesh to the grille or lower bumper. If you ever have to repaint, you'll be doing alot of masking.
