HHR - Buick Bijou Super Progress

Here is the most recent shot of my project of fabricating new body panels to make my HHR pay tribute to the 1950-53 Buick Super 8.

She's coming right along, but how are you ever going to get a 320cid Fireball 8 under that hood?

Thank You Radco, Boydie, & 843de!!!

843de,
That's the conundrum I face. As much as I would love to stuff a V8 under the hood, the reality is:
1. There is truly not enough room under the hood for an 8.
2. Even if there was room under the hood, I lack the mechanical expertise necessary to perform such a swap.
3. Even if I had the mechanical skills my budget wouldn't allow for such a costly venture.

So I have came to the conclusion that the best solution would be an amendment to the Super 8's name. Super 4 just has a bad ring to it. So what I have came up with so far is Super 8/2 & Super 8 X.5
I am open to any one else's ideas and suggestions too :)

Well since the HHR is a wagon of sorts, why not use the name Buick used on their wagons circa 1950-52. Call it a Super Estate.

843de,

That sounds like a decent name & one that is true to the classic Buick heritage. I am also adding some elements that are very progressive in conjunction with the retro. I don't know if I want to go completely heritage with the name though. When I read your post my first thought was to shorten Super Estate to Super E. Which I like a lot, however people might think its hybrid or electric. I plan on putting the name on the liftgate in the same style letters currently used on HHR's. What are your thoughts on shortening Super Estate to Super E?

I'm leaning towards "Super Estate" maybe using reproduction Buick "Super" script with "Estate" spelled out in the block style HHR script.

That combines old and new, which is what you're doing already.
