does the ss grill fit a non-ss hhr..??

 

I beleve it will only fit if you also use an Ss bumper cover

 

Ss grill will fit but you have to modified the stock hhr bumper. I know because I did the ss grill on my hhr 2lt

 

I seen another guy on here that modified the SS grill too to make it fit....but yes definitely doesn't fit without a little modification

 

are the bumper mods extensive..??

 

The HHR SS grille is taller overall than the standard grille. It is designed this way for a greater sq in open area for more air intake volume to the radiator. The SS bumper has a center section that is cut out lower that the main section to accommodate the grille. If you look closely at where the bottom of the hood meets the bumper, the stock grille is flush with the bottom of the hood; the SS grill dips below the bottom of the hood where it meets the bumper. It might be easier to modify the grille than the bumper.

 

Much simpler & less expensive to just mod the SS grille.. (see pic)
It's really only a matter of sawing off the lowest bar.
