CJ... Great idea for a low cost lower grill modification...

It should keep all those sandcrabs and landsharks off my radiator on my next trip to the beach...

I'm gonna have to give this a try..looks good! I'm still trying to visualize the bottom part and how it is held on by curling it but once I get under the hood it might make sense

It's really easy, Goose...

The clips on the top simply clip over the lip just above the lower opening. Those clips hold the top portion of the grill from dropping down.

Then shape the mesh by simply curling it around the lower lip of the opening to keep it held up against the lower part of the opening. Real easy and it will all make sense when you look inside around the opening.

I just wanted to let everyone know that APC is going out business from what I've heard and Kragen Auto Parts is50% offing all of its left over stock on this stuff, at least in my area. I know that APC is more of a tuner type company but I just picked up a blue anodized grille mesh that is almost the perfect color as my HHR I'm doing a lower grille mod in the morning, Thanks CJ for the gutter mesh clips idea, I just picked up a set.
I'll post some pics of how it turns out.

Well folks, I went to Lowes this morning and got the mesh, 2 nuts, and 2 washers. Since I found one loose piece of mesh, NO CHARGE. I got out of there spending a whole $.68 and about 45 minutes of mounting time. Thanks for the tip!!!!!!!!

I might add, consider cutting to 32". I found that I only had enough to bolt one side. I may go back after another piece later and redo it.

Totally agree on the 32". I cut mine to 31" and it only really made the bolt on one side. I went a little nuts on this project and got some plastic door-edge guard for $2.98 and put that on the edge of the opening first. Thought it would look kinda nice (used chrome) and guard against the mesh constantly scrapping. One question I have for people is about the bottom too. No matter how much I bend, it still kinda pops out and is going to scrape against the radiator piece on the left side. Anyone have any solutions or worries for this?

Mine "popped" out of place a couple of times but if you get it bent and formed real good, it will stay in place. Mine only has one nut on it but I have it conformed to the opening pretty good. As far as the scraping, there "might" be a small amount under the bottom lip but nothing visible.
