I've just discovered that the 2LT I recently purchased used, has some sort of darkening film on the chrome wheels and grill. Any ideas what it might be? Any ideas about how to get it off without marring the chrome beneath? The stuff makes the chrome "darker", especially when compared to the bare chrome on our 1LT. Any thoughts about this would be appreciated.

Well you might have a "Fall Edition" unit with the "Black Chrome" from the factory, or the original owner used a tint spray to darken them. Removing it might prove an interesting proposition without causing damage to the underlying parts, could you post up a pic or two so we can see what you have going on exactly?

they have probably bin sprayed with "night shade" tint from duplicolor...if ya get lucky and whoever applied it may have not cleaned it too good..it may peel off if thats the case..if not..get some POR(paint over rust) products..get the stripper..and a spray bottle..this stuff is like acid so be carefull..work fast enough to remove the film..it will disolve in seconds with this stuff...dont leave it on long enough to effect the chrome or it will..kinda a risky approch but Ive done it to painted chromed parts before
