Painted Bow-Ties

I painted my bow-ties black a few weeks ago. I thought I would put up some pictures to entertain you good folks. :) I removed the bow-ties to paint (using fishing line and a blow dryer), sanded them, and then painted them with Krylon Fusion spray paint. A couple of coats of black followed by a few coats of clear coat. Let them dry over night and then I stuck them back on in the morning using adhesive tape meant for trim I found at a parts store.

Now the question is do I night shade my tail lights to go with the black bow-tie or do I leave them stock to blend in with the paint/body of the rest of the car? Thoughts?

Bow-ties look really nice! I think I'd go for blacked out taillights and a one of the bumper protectors to break up the overall "redness", but its your ride so do what makes you happy.

I agree, but the nightshades can be a little tricky. Todd (Uma)

Looks Good !!!!

I like to shave the emblems too, with fishing line.. but that's me..

Agree with 843 about the black rear bumper pad for color-break..

edit: & perhaps a nice stainless exhaust tip, & maybe paint the muffler BBQ flat black..

I do plan on getting rid of the emblems. I just ran out of time and fishing line that day. :)

I haven't even heard of bumper pads until I googled it. Very interesting! *ponders*

Also I didn't even notice my muffler but it does need some love, eh? Thanks for pointing it out!

Yeah the stock mufflers do have a fairly high "dorky looking" quotient, a little BBQ paint and a nice tip will work wonders unless you change the whole system. I have GMPP exhausts on the '07 and '11 powder coated black except for the tips, look cool without being overly "blingy".

Fishing line has many uses.. lol

Once you look at one with a black muffler (hard to see it), cause it blends in so nicely....It's a low buck mod that makes a bigger visual improvement than the cost of a can of BBQ paint.

What kind of tape did you use to put them back on?

Here's a link to the 3M tape most commonly used for emblems and moldings on cars, you can get it at any good auto parts store or body shop supply house.
