No worries on the final (blurry) pic. I was a little concerned your phone cradle was going to block you fan controller, the 'blurry' pic shows it doesn't. Any issues with your fan controller, temp controller, etc being in a lower position? To clearify, you moved the window switches higher because it was a pain for them to be so low, are you running into the same issue with the controllers be so low?
Love the work..!

No not at all. The controllers are at the level where the old 12volt outlet was and where the rear window button was. I don't even have to lean forward to adjust temp. All buttons are within reach of the driver and passenger with the seat all the way back.

Well, except the emergency flasher button but, I am sure if I need to use it. I will have to do more then lean forward. LOL

Like tear apart the whole rear to get the spare tire out...

I think that would elevate a lot of frustration with large drink containers in the HHR. I would go one further with adding perhaps a column shift for the HHR offered in automatic. Then you would have all kinds of room for storage and cup holders but course that would not have worked for the 5-speed models. Orrrrrrrrrrrrrr, could you say "5 on the tree" Like we had in the old days
I agree on the center being an ideal location with the remounting of the E-Brake.

Might be something worth measuring out.

Even my Saturn was better that way, it had a removable insert so larger sizes or cups with handles would fit. I love the idea of the spring loaded Santa fe ones, if you do that please post pics. Personally I have not had luck yet trying to weld plastic so any advice you have there would be great.
Looking at the options now. I will post the photos here and at http://rickyvb.webs.com/apps/forums/...r-modification

The Spring loaded design should work flawless. Only Issue I have is the sides of the factory GM Cup Holders are cut out to allow for the handles of your mugs to stick out.

Hyundai has that cut out in the center on newer models. So it will take some serious plastic welding and filler work to come out nice.

To hear people saying they have no issues with theirs is odd to me. A cup in an oversize hole does not stay. I don't care who you are. Make a turn fast and it tips to the side.

Here is the Better Picture I promised and some Cup Holder Ideas... :)

Cup Holder Ideas. I don't think I will use them but, I'd Figure I would share.

I like this last one the most. The cups actually sit deep enough not to effect your view when driving.

I personally am a fan of the pop out of the dash cup holders. I've thought of doing that project myself. I've had a number of cars with the cup holders there and it works great and is less of an eye sore when not in use...

I agree. The Geo Prism has a pop out cup holder but, it comes out at a slight angle to the right. Still looking for the Ideal one.

There is plenty of room above the glove box for just such and install. I will have to install it slightly in and attach the factory GM Plastic of the HHR to the front of the pop out cup holder but, I don't think it will be to hard to complete if I can't find a better solution.

If anyone knows of a pop out cup holder, that comes out straight or to the left. Please post the vehicles information. Year, Make, Model,etc... THANKS!!!
