Ooohhh... that didn't even occur to me. I've been looking at Cobalt and related size cars that might swap. I'll have to see if Saab part numbers might be interchangeable with GM. Great idea!

I don’t recall a Cobalt with heated steering wheels, maybe an upscale similar sized GM product, like Buick or Cadillac

It seems to me, while trying to help some of our European members, that the Saab part numbers do not interchange.

And I couldn't find any heated Saab wheels anyway. Looks like the nearest equivalent to our cars is the Traverse/Equinox. Most expensive part is the airbag module itself, even used (not deployed, of course). Too much investment for something that *probably* won't work. On the shelf for the moment.

I think that’s best, stay with the OEM setup

One of the side reasons I was researching is that my steering wheel is starting to fall apart from sun exposure. With the low miles it had when I bought it, I knew it had to be sitting in a lot somewhere in the south (Alabama, to be exact). I happened to notice it a couple weeks ago.. the side facing the windshield is starting to 'pit' and discolor as old vinyl/plastic does. Guess I need to dig through some of the GM parts websites to find a new wheel!

There are a couple on fleabay. Missed that one or dismissed it for the wear and cut wires. New ones can be had from GM parts.. not exactly cheap, but at least it's not worn!

I remember years back that lots of HHR owners were upgrading their steering wheels to the leather ones or ones with the extra set of control buttons. There's got to be some of those old threads in the sites archives.
Also seem to recall some of the Cobalts would interchange, I think. And, seems like one or two were a smaller wheel (?) The SS one maybe ?

Yeah, that's what I'm looking at. GM Parts has the leather with extra buttons (that I don't need) in a variety of options. The Cobalts were slightly different in layout.. I don't know if the interior harnesses are the same.
