Steering wheel emblem

searched but couldnt find anything. anybody know how to remove the center emblem from the steering wheel to paint? the gold is starting to irritate me t.i.a.

As far as I can remember there are metal tabs that are folded on the inside, but this involves messing with the air bag....big no no. The center from a Corvette is the same size and one guy on here somewhere just cut the tabs off and glued it over the bowtie....looked pretty good.

its only a no no if you dont know what your doin..if you do...disconnect battery..let sit for a while..look for holes on side of steering wheel for removing bag..it comes off easier than you think but yes tabs on the backside
just be carefull,your dealership guy will do it for ya next time your in for service..replace it the time after you go in..2 min job really

awesome.thats what i was wondering if you had to take out the airbag or not.thats no worry i have taken out a few airbags in my time. thanks guys

I just polished off the gold tone off mine, now it is shiny silver..

Same for my rim centers..

You can Polish it as some have done! Also there is vinyl bowties in most colors that fit right over the chevy gold bowtie! Check ebay.....
