HERE IS THE PLAN!

We'll meet at the Niagara Falls Factory Outlet mall around 9am, in the parking lot section near the Elks club (as close to the Elks club as possible, lots of open space to form up). Sometime between 9:45 and 10am, we'll form up and caravan up Niagara Falls Boulevard straight to Niagara Falls nat'l park. We'll park on Goat Island (parking fee is usually $10), get some pictures and explore as much of the Falls as you wish, including the Canadian side. The Goat Island parking lot is close to a vistor's center with concessions, the Cave of the Winds and the Tesla statue. Going the opposite way toward the Horseshoe Falls, there is a restaurant/gift shop and the Three Sisters Islands (kind of a fun diversion, for the nature lover in you.). Going past the concessions by Tesla is the observation deck for the American and Bridal Veil falls, and further down (IIRC) is the Maid of the Mist. The only thing on the agenda once we're at the Falls is enjoying yourselves.

My MIL says - on the Canadian side, that we should take some kind of boat ride that takes you down close to the water?? And also, something about a place where you can walk behind the falls? How long shall we plan to be there since this is prob. my only chance to see them.

Hey, StitchII's daddy - - you're a heck of an organizer!! HAHA - if we can't get an HHR, should we get a PT and honor the designer? We are thinking of turning in the rental and trying to get something other than the requisite TAURUS for the weekend.

How much closer to the water are you going to get if you are on a boat ride?

It's called the "Maid of the Mist" (the boat ride that takes you right to the base of the Falls) It's an incredible trip not to be missed! You can actually board on either the US or Canadian sides. We'll give you directions that day. The other attraction is called the Cave of the Winds. You elevator down to an area inside the falls and then walk out onto wooden catwalks (perfectly safe...or so they say!) for an upclose and personal view of the falls from down below. This attraction is within walking distance of where we'll be parking. They're both fun, but my personal recommendation is the Maid of the Mist. Other options are helicopter rides over the Falls and a tethered hot-air balloon. Haven't done either one so can't vouch for their worth. You can do all those things on the American side.

Now I'm starting to get really excited! So many things to do!! Um, Wikipedia says there are 2 outlet malls - but one is closed. It is Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls on Military Rd in Niagara, right? I'm mapping everything now.

D.Coyote, why don't you PM me your cell phone no, and your real names, and I'll reply.

I am SO READY to get wet at the FALLS.
