power steering

Hi. The power steering on my hhr went out on me. It's a 2008 with 23k miles went to the dealer, who "reset" it. No pumps or belts or fluid to replace. I guess it's good. The serviceman never told me how he rest it. I had my other car, with a power steering pump, for 140,000 mi. Never had a problem with it. I'm concerned this will happen again. Can anyone tell me how to reset the electic power steering? Thanks

Well, until your Bumper to Bumper Warranty Runs out at 36,000 miles, and your 5yr/100,000 Miles runs out, I wouldn't worry about it. IF it happens again, call 1-800-CHEV-USA and tell them whats going on after the automated answering system, and they will do whats called a Warranty Tow to a dealership and have it fixed at NO cost.

Officer.....

I don't think the 5 year/100,000 mile warranty is relevant in this instance. I believe it would be covered under the 3/36,000 but he MAY be getting very to that expiration, with an '08.

to the OP.....

Not understanding your terminology, "reset it". Can you provide what the repair order states? I'm not aware of a reset, other than maybe a fuse, etc.

They should have replaced the motor..... maybe it's "replaced" and not "reset"

Either replaced the motor or replaced the fuse if it blew, there is no way to "reset" the steering, nothing to reset.

P.S.

to the forum dodger542000!

Replaced my EPS motor in Sept, it's out again today

Is this a part that I need to fork over money for every 2-3 months?! It drove perfect after the replacement but this morning it was rainy and the car threw a low traction like 4 times while I was driving, came home and the car sat about 30 minutes, started it back up drove 3 blocks and lost all steering!

We have put a little over 30K on our ION that has this same esp type steering and have yet to have an issue with it. I don't think I have put quite 1k on my HHR yet so I cannot comment there.
