WNY & Ontario HHR's ~ how about this for a Spring G2G?

Check out this post in the North East Regional section, "Watkins Glen Opening Weekend":

This has a lot of potential for a fun and meaningful G2G! Any interest?

I did this last July with some buddies.

We never went under 55 except for the few seconds it took to rocket up through the esses from the start of the session. I hit 80 on the long back straight, and we all had to do some heavy braking down in the boot. One person at the back of the pack said he hit 88, and his wife was panic stricken, yelling at him that the speed limit was 55!

We had 19 Chevy/Buick/Oldsmobile/wagons out there. If you get a group of twenty there is a $5.00 discount on the fees.

Here's my toy on the grid. 450 horsepower

That photo is so strange! Love it! Who would have thought there could be a collection or a group of peole with neat big-old station wagons. What's the story?

Me and a few of my buddies went up there two years ago. It was a good time. We had a few people in our group that shouldn't have been on the track but it was still good fun.

Sorry for the delayed response... haven't been here in a while.

I own a black 2009 HHR SS and a black 1993 Caprice wagon that was once a demo car for Kicker. Just like belonging to this forum because of the HHR SS, I also belong to a forum dedicated to GM long roofs. It had the 350ci motor pulled and a highly modded 400 block put in its place. It is a TPI design with a self programmed custom ECM. It pushes about 450 horsepower now.

The photo in question was from the Wagonfest Nationals event held last year at the end of July 2011. We were in Geneva NY at the north end of Seneca Lake, and Watkins Glen is simply at the south end of the same lake.

We set up the event for the group ahead of time, There is better pricing with more vehicles. At the time if there were 15 vehicles in a group, the price dropped to $20.00 from $25.00 The pace truck did not go 55. I know I hit 80, should have hit faster but was also trying to film the event with one hand and steer with the other. Others reported higher speeds down the back straight.

At the end of the second lap is the photo session with pictures on the starting line. We had a blast and are intending to do it again this year during the event weekend Specifically we'll be headed down on Friday July 27, 2012 Laps are run after the daily practice sessions at about 4:30pm

My car was a featured vehicle last year as "long roof of the month. If you have interest, the article is posted at this link.
