The top shelf is going to stay in that position. My custom system is going right under that.

What do you mean by custom system? Any time you put a audio system in a car other than the factory system it's a custom system. Are you having special speakers hand built for you or something?

what was the bolt pattern of the rims you purchased? I assume the installer had to drill new holes to fit the 5x110 bolt pattern on the hhr?

The custom system will be built into the spare tire compartment with the 12 inch subs firing down and a pexi-glass covering them with a red neon light.

sorry about the confusion. Since my first car I have been customizing all of them. My 4 door 1997 accord is modified, we cut the roof off, shaved the emblems, shaved handles, has 13 inch wire rims (which I am changing to 19 inch), 2 pump hydraulic set up. I am in the process of repainting the car and doing the upholstry. When I go to shows a sub-box thrown in the truck is not considered custom.
