Our first little cruise (pics)
Our first little cruise (pics)
Brenda and I just got back from our first real 'cruise' in the Smoke Wagon. It has become tradition that every time we get another car, we take it out to the coast, but this is the first time we took along our digital camera. We've suffered some pretty heavy rains in the last few days, so the roads were slick, and filthy, and I was shocked that my mudflaps keps all the dirt/junk from getting up all over the sides of the wagon...total bonus for me.
anyway...we're from Sonoma County, north of San Francisco, so we take trips to Bodega Bay in our cars...and today the rain let up, so we headed out for Smoke Wagon's first trip out the backroads.
First...the pics:
we stopped in Duncan's Mills, an old railroad town, and snapped a few in front of an old rail car:

then we headed out to the California Coast:

me...and my Smoke Wagon:

and finally, here's one picture I tweaked a little. Love the effects.

we then made our way to the Tides restaurant for our favorite seafood dish, but MY GOD have they raised the prices!!!
so...another excuse to keep going south in to the town of Petaluma to one of out old favorites...clam strips at Pete's....but...they were out, so we settled for a regular lunch.
From there, straight to the Chevy dealer down the road to see their crop of HHR's...Brenda is really liking them...but doesnt want the car payment...
they had a Victory red 2008 2LT
a white 08 Panel
and a dark gray(non metallic?) 1LT...
strange...the panel, and the gray one had steel wheels and hubcaps.
Funny how quickly the salesman flocked to us when I pulled in with my HHR. I still have the temporary report of sale stickered to my windshield which they clearly saw...must have known we were just tire kickin'.
and then home we came... all in all, about 95 miles...backroads, twisties, some driving in the I position(I love that), and this little wagon kicks tail...I am loving it more and more every day.

Nice pics, I haven't been to the ocean in 20 yrs., it always amazes me to see the curvature of the earth when you can see nothing but water at the way out there.
Looks like that was a nice trip.
It's also making me miss my 17" polished wheels I took off a week ago to put the snow tires on!!! Ugh!!!!!

Dang. It is rainy and cloudy days like today here in the OC (residuals of the rains you folks got) that remind me of how much I miss living in the Bay area.
Thanks for sharing the pics and love the pix of the car (that was my 2nd choice color).
Maybe I'll make that road trip up to see friends in Berkeley sooner rather then later!
