2.4 no power 2k~3k

Hey guys I've had this issue for awhile but with the discovery of this forum I figured I'd try and do some diagnosing. I really notice this on the 2-3 shift but when accelerating between the 2-3k rpm range it feels like him hitting somewhat of a wall. In all honesty it feels like the timing is being pulled pretty significantly. The engine is a little noisy but nothing over the top and I've always read/been told that its normal for the HHR. I'm going to try and pull the plugs some time this coming week to see if that leads to any clues but I wanted to ask here to see if this is a common issue with the 2.4's. Maybe more of a power band issue?

Its an 06 5 speed with a little over 50k miles on it. Once I pass the 3k rpm range there is a noticeable change in acceleration. Also the problem exists in 3rd gear but its not nearly as pronounced and it feels like 3rd is much more torqueir (not even sure that's a word).

Thanks for any help

Give this thread a read, I think you're feeling the PE Delay which can cause the engine to feel a bit brain dead right between 2-3k rpm.

A Trifecta tune would take care of that.......

That RPM range is when my HHR with auto is the strongest maybe because of my 2 air filters but I can make my tires chirp at that range.

To a true gearhead/rodder, the only time you're done modding is when they put you in the ground...in your custom painted coffin with the flames and extra chrome trim of course.

Yeah the last ride was turbo AWD and it ate up a lot of time and money but I loved the damn thing. When I decided on the HHR I thought long and hard on the SS but had a momentary lapse in judgement and chose to be frugal (at least that's what I was thinking) and get the 2.4 which would remove any temptations .

Well I guess we will see how long that lasts.

Well in my case it was about five minutes, then the credit card took a hit, and then another hit......well you get the idea.
