2006 HHR driving issue past 3100 rpm
Ok so I registered here hoping I can find someone else who has had a similar problem or knows more about HHRs than I do (wouldn't take much). My father has an 06 HHR with a 2.4 in it. The car has high miles, 291,6xx. Its been having an issue for the last couple of years with highway driving or just stepping down on it in general. It seems to act up around 3100-3500 rpm as in sometimes (most times) when it hits 3100 rpm the car falls flat on its face like you let out of the throttle. You have to let off the gas before you can step on it and have it accelerate again.He seemed to think it was his transmission but as long as its been doing it I would think the problem would have gotten worse or the transmission would have gone altogether by now. I'm at a loss, I don't know if there is a module that could cause this, the throttle sensor, some other sensor, or the transmission or torque converter. any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Any CEL's (Check Engine Light ) ?
Even if there is none showing, the next thing would be to have the codes pulled with a scanner or reader.
Some codes don't always trigger a CEL but will be stored in the computer.
A wild guess is a fuel problem. Could have a fuel pump getting weak after all those miles.

Welcome to the site! It could be a fuel delivery issue , the fuel pump? Maybe, the fuel injectors? Maybe!
Now if you have the codes pulled write them down , like P0128 for instance, don't worry about what the guy tells you what he thinks it means. Post it here and we'll guide you thru this. Do the codes first!
Next step is to disconnect the negative cable at the battery, this will clear any codes stored, so do it after you pull any codes, most times a lobotomy ( ECM reset ) fixes a problem by setting the computer back to factory settings .
Please let us know how you make out with this issue.

Don't do the battery disconnect/reset until you have the codes pulled.
A disconnect will clear any stored, pending codes.
And as Oldblue stated, post up the code numbers here and we''ll see if we can help. Code numbers only please. Descriptions of the codes are usually generic and sometimes can be misleading.
