2006 hhr LS need help

Temp cont doesn't work(display?), or speedometer.

Plus it won't shift out of first gear.

Also power steering light is on.

But I have power steering.

"temp cont" - no idea what you are referring to there.

RE: power steering - do a search for "Power steering recall" and you will find lots of info - it may fall under a free replacement by GM - at the very least it is not that expensive and a 15 minute job to replace if it is the motor that is causing problems.

aboard!

OK, it's an '06 LS with a 2.2L L-61 engine, that we can tell from your initial post.

But how many miles do have on it, and is the CEL illuminated?

Oldblue is onto something, is your battery the original Delco, and have you headed to an auto parts store to have the trouble codes pulled?

We're not trying to overwhelm you, but the more info, the better. HHR's are fairly complex mechanically and electronically, so we need as much information as possible. Lest we end up guessing at the possible causes.

Well I'll say it.
If you don't post up the actual CEL numbers (i.e. P0001,P0002) then it's really all but impossible for us to try and help.
A lot of the auto parts places can give you accurate code numbers but many times their "descriptions" of those codes are incorrect.

Best to post up the actual numbers.

Hate to say it, but scoot on back to the auto parts store and have the codes pulled again.

Ask for a printout, or write the codes down and post them up here.

Guessing what is wrong with these Trucklets gets expensive fast, and the diagnostic codes eliminate the guessing.

I'm headed there now.Was wondering where I unhooked the battery to reset computer if it erased the codes? Hoping not!
