2006 HHR Timing Belt
I brought my HHR to the dealer due to a trouble light and the traction control light was on. Whenever the TC control light comes on the transmission shifts hard. The dealer says I need a new timing chain. The dealer says the cam timing is off and the chain is the reason. What are the chances it is being caused by the cam sensors. I know there are two of them. But it would be a much cheaper fix to change them instead of changing the chain. They want over $1000.00.
Any thoughts?

What are the DTC numbers? Pxxxx. Without that we can only guess.
No need for dealer service. Any good shop can do the job. Figure 4.5 hours labor plus $200 in parts.
At over 100K there is a good possibility.

Welcome to the site.
Camshaft sensors. Probably not. I would be more inclined to think it's the camshaft actuator solenoids.
Now, if you can post up the actual trouble code(CEL) numbers, I'll bet we can point you in the right direction.
Also. What's the mileage on this 06 ?
