2006 HHR won't start

Ive had my 06 HHR for 3 years. Only had 40,000 miles when I got it, has 65,000 now. Ever since I've had it, it occasionally, randomly does this thing where it wont start. Doesnt crank, gets power, but turn the key and nothing. Then, 5, 10 minutes later it starts. Then it doesnt happen again for 2-3 weeks. This last time it happened a few days ago, it hasnt started since. I wonder if this is a common issue, maybe a recall? My mechanic thinks it might be related to the alarm, remote start function. Anybody had this happen?

It could also be related to the ignition cylinder being whack. I believe there is a Recall/TSB out there for this. There is a search function in the upper right corner. I would search it for you, but I am walking out the door.

2006 is not included in the ignition TSB.

I don't believe this to be a common issue..

How is the condition of your battery & trrminals etc ?

I am having the same problem as jdc818. My mechanic is puzzled. Only had my HHR one month, love it except for this problem.

Sleeper - isn't there a similar problem caused by the shifter mechanism sometimes on automatics?

I have a different belief, but I'm not posting it.

To many ONE TIME POSTERS never return to indicate they resolved the problem.....or for that matter, even return, based on their "last on line" report. I still believe if they did we, members of this forum, could provide even more valuable information. I'm just not wasting the effort. JMO

Oh, I will answer whopper....yes, there is!!
