Ok I watch a guy YouTube video we’re he zip ties the lever back that keeps it from going into gear and if you do that you zip tie the button under the steering wheel so you can get your key out and you remote start don’t work .. So I was thinking if I take a dremel the plastic lever at top were it keep it lock and cut it to free the shifter up would everything work as far the key coming out and remote start would work then ? I know i was reading that dealer will fix it for free and put a new one in .. here in Chicago the mechanics are on strike ..

Do you think putting the straw on the can of WD40 and indiscriminately spaying the bottom of the mechanical system would hurt something? Wouldn't that be easier than worrying about fixes for things other than your complaint?

You started out "stuck in park" now you are looking at "key stuck in ignition" the one you haven't got to yet is "button on shifter is broken". All different fixes.

I have been assuming that when this happens the button won't move

Perhaps simply replace the transmission control, aka shifter! Ask at your local GM dealership, they might still do that for free!

Could claim the extended warranty. Or just get a new shifter assembly; last I looked they were about $50.
