2007 Chevy HHR LT Heat Blend Door Actuator

I have searched in several places to find the easiest way to replace this actuary on my HHR. It's located in a horrible spot. I don't know what Chevy was thinking. The actuator is high up on the heater box and up on the right. Most say you have to remove dash and loosen heater box. I have read that there's an easier for a but have yet to find out how.

I bought this HHR a few days ago with known issues, because I got a really good deal on it for cash. The power steering assist module was out but it was covered under warranty so that didn't cost me any money. Other than the lower control arms and ball joints... this appears to be the only other mechanical issue.

I replaced the tie rods on my Dodge Charger ...but I really don't like the thought of control arms. 😬

So if anyone can give me any guidance on an easier way to replace the actuator I would greatly appreciate it.

I have not done it but, I understand that you can get to it through the glovebox hole, there is at least 1 screw and a clip. The other way is to remove the dash.

I was trying to avoid removing the dash. I know exactly where it is located. There is just very little room to work in. And my hands aren't large.

Welcome to the site, LCA’s are straight forward

https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-...ol-arms-44378/

the blend door actuators are finicky, so don’t be in a hurry or have an appointment or work to get to, it can be an all day job . Knowing why they are and how to get to them is halve the battle.

It's highly doubtful I'll be doing the control arm myself because I didn't want to do it on my Dodge Charger. I'm just trying to avoid taking the dash apart on the HHR. But that's really seems to be the only known solution online. So at this point I'm taking it apart and hopefully get it done before nightfall.

I actually stopped midway and popped the hood for some unknown reason. I saw that I had a shreaded air intake hose. So I put the dashboard back together. And then I felt the carpet was wet on the passenger floorboard. 😤 I am throwing in the towel for today. It's 4:30pm and I haven't had lunch yet. And I have to be in at work at my first job at 4 a.m.

I have one video out on YouTube with my Dodge Charger. I have another video replacing my tie rods that I still need to edit and upload.

Early 2007 might have butyl patch
leak from clogged AC drain
leak from clogged sunroof drain
leak from door conduit.

use 3 inch dry vent hose for intake

It hasn't been raining nor have I had the AC on.... I hope that doesn't sound like a blond moment. Unless the guy ran it through the car wash before he sold it to me.
