P0442 (Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) System Small Leak Detected) is challenging because the small leak can be very hard to pinpoint. When my P0442 graduated to P0455 large leak, I was able to trace it to the purge valve.
There are may places it could be leaking. But a small leak shouldn't keep it from running. Something else is going on.
