2007 hhr code issues
And DonBrew, why would the airbag message be a sign of a stolen car? A wrecked car yes.... But I got it from a dealer who buys them at auction like all of the rest of them do. And thought I was getting it for a really good price with only 71,000 miles on it. I'm also not sure what you mean by title search--the only procedure anyone does here is to make sure the seller has properly signed, dated, etc. then go to the revenue office and tag it! And I have been researching all over this forum and everywhere else and seeing many mentions of wiring/fuses causing similar issues.... So, I guess I'm a little confused by your comments.
I posted a youtube video in post #2 the shows how to dis assemble the the fuse box and inspect the bottom connections that frequently come loose.
In Va I know that it is illegal to sell a car with an airbag light. It is incredibly unsafe to drive a car with a potential bomb in the steering wheel.
Many time people steal cars for the air bags. Did YOU make sure the VIN on the car matches the VIN on the title? Did anyone do a CARFAX? Do you even know the mileage is correct? Do you know that the car has not been welded together?
If you were to be injured as a result of a faulty airbag the seller would be liable. The "dealer" should be aware of that.
You are aware of the reputation of "used car salesmen"?

Check the connection at the MAF and the flexpipe.

With the number of issues initially reported, you definitly have more than just a P0171 code problem. They need to be addressed ASAP before it leaves you stranded.
Getting that bettery tested would be my first step, then check into the fuse box diagnostics.

My 2 quarters worth due to inflation
If you find it isn’t charging do not automatically assume alternator. I spent money that I really didn’t have to spend just to find out it was the fusible link between the starter and alternator.
