Angry 2007 hhr panel goes crazy

OK, so I'm driving along about 65 and my radio quits, no light or anything, the car is slowing so I step on the gas and the engine revs but nothing, I'm coasting, I have no power steering and the door locks start locking and unlocking at a rapid pace. On the dash, lower left I see F.... and something else I don't remember. So I get the car to the shoulder and coast to a stop and kill it. Now everything is DEAD, the car is in Park, the key is in the "on" position, won't turn off, car is in Park and won't come out, the doors are locked and won't open. WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON? Called my wife to come get me, my HHR is still sitting beside the highway. HELP HELP!

Ya got no juice from the battery.
Either the battery itself died or you have a bad/broken wiring connection. Could even be the alternator quit charging( check to see if the serpentine belt is still on )

You're gonna have to find the "cause".

Welcome to the site, sorry your HHR lost its mind, but yeah, sounds like battery and or alternator.

I guess you did something to offend the car, if it sent an F.... message.

Maybe it was a key icon? Or a temp icon?

HHR went crazy

Thanks guys, I called a mechanic friend and was told it needs the battery replaced... guess what, replaced it and all is good. Just glad it didn't happen in heavy fast traffic! BTW my HHR still had the original battery after 11 years and 90K miles!

My first lasted 175k or so before needing replacement. I have an identical AC Delco in there now hoping for just as long of a life!

My ACDelco lasted 10 years before I replaced it... It's actually still good, just not in the car anymore.
