2008-2009 Special Coverage for Ignition Cylinder

Read all about it.

This is not a RECALL. It is a Special Coverage, which means if the condition occurs it is covered for 10 years or 120,000 miles.

What year?

In following the link, it appears there are two different bulletins with overlapping years for HHR to fix the same problem. One is for 2009-10 HHR, and the other for 2008-09 HHR. I take it that 2006-07 and 2011 HHRs are unaffected? This is weird because Cobalt and G5 are covered beginning in 2007, whereas HHR is not. Is there some logical explanation for all this?

2 different types of bulletins.

One is a Customer Satisfaction Policy (post 163) which means the vehicles involved will be repaired now.

One is a Special Coverage (post 164) which means IF the condition occurs they will fix it for the stated time period and miles.

As far as why some are in it and some aren't on different models only GM knows this. Maybe in 2006-2007 the ignition lock cylinders were probably made by a different vendor.

ChevyMgr, where can I get a "Customer Reimbursement Request Form"? The link mentioned global connect, but I can't locate it on that site.

GM will be sending them to you. NOTHING can be done by the dealers until after 4/23/2012. All affected customers, that GM has on file, will get a letter from GM. There is NO date for the mailings to begin so hold on to your receipts until the notifications go out.

Global Connect is a GM/Dealer only site. The forms are not there yet and may take a few weeks before they are.
