Problems/Service/RepairsIf you have a problem with your HHR, want a tip on repairing or performing a particular service to you HHR here is the place to post!
Hello,
My mother has a 2008 Chevy HHR with the 2.2 engine and 150K miles.
This past Sunday I was driving with the air on for a few hours (very cold air blowing) when it started blowing warm air.
I have checked all fuses and relays both inside and under the hood visually and with a meter and all are fine.
The switch on the dash for the air conditioning lights up when pressed.
The compressor clutch is not engaging when the air is switched on and the electric cooling fan is also not working.
I drove the car today and the info on the dash stated the coolant was at 215 and the fan still did not kick on.
I spun the fan manually and it spins freely with no noise.
I visually checked all the wiring and connectors and all seemed in good condition, no corrosion.
The belt is also in good condition and the compressor is spinning, no noise.
The manual states that the fan should start as soon as the air is switched on.
If the fan is not working would that keep the compressor from engaging?
Any ideas what would cause the air to quit and the fan to not work?
Welcome to the site, a bad thermostat will trip code P0128, which will shut down the AC.
Look at the serpentine belt and tensioner pulley, it’s being an issue before for other members
