2008 hhr cranks won't start

I have a 2008 chevy HHR with 170 000 on the 2.2 L engine with an automatic transmission..the other day I was driving home from work and it just died on me..ive had the car for about 6nminths and in have had zero problems with it.
I read on the forum as to the likely problems.. I checked the fuse. Had my wife turn the key and I can hear the gas pump..pushed in the valve on the fuel rail and took a bath..
it cranks but will not catch..so I checked the timing chain and the tensioner was stuck. Bought a kit from cloyes and followed the instructions..still cranks but won't catch..
also it is not throwing a code so the OBD II is not helping..
Where do I got from here? Thank you for any help in advance

UPDATE
tried putting it in neutral and still will not catch. Pushed on the gas and it wanted to catch then stopped. Repeated the process and it was the same. Wanted to catch then died

Electrical connector melted!!

I was just poking around under the hood of my '08 2.2L automatic when I noticed that an electrical connector was melted..I'm wondering if after I have redone the timing if this is why it will crank but not catch..
the connector litteraly crumbled as I tried to touch it and get a closer look.
it runs under the car neas the exaust. Inside are four wires: red/black grey/white purple and tan(or brown)/ white..I've tried looking at the wiring diagram but I understand how to wire up a 110v light switch and that's it..
I can hear the fuel pump

Hard for me to believe no CEL. You did all of that work with absolutely no OBD2 Codes?

Hint: the electrical diagrams have wire colors on them.

I think you are describing the #1 O2 sensor connector, if it melted you probably blew, at least, the "emissions" fuse.

In post #1 you say you checked "the fuse"; what does that mean?
