2008 hhr key fob

My wife left the key turned on, on her 2008 HHR. The key was stuck in the ignition. so I hooked up Jumper cables and got the key out. I hooked up battery charger to trminal under hood. charged it up and started the car. Now neither of the remote entry key fobs will work at all. will not lock and unlock doors and the horn button on the fob will not work, the manual door lock button works, it locks doors when put in gear and unlocks them when put in park.

also the tire pressure sensors do not work either.

I think I can program tps system but what about the key problem. neither one of them will work. They need to work before I can set up the TPS.

Where's our moderator Donbrew when we need him. There is some sort of TSB regarding 2008 models, dead batteries and the car's computer needing to be reflashed.
Hopefully Don will see this and impart his wisdom on your issue. Just standby till he see this thread.

It's the car battery, disconnect it at the battery negative terminal for 30 minutes, while that is disconnected check the under hood fuse box forloose fuses relays, and the two halves are tightly bolted together
Reconnect the battery.
It was probably discharged enough to cause this issue, you might consider charging the battery while it's disconnected from the HHR

Here it is also, check the "RDO" fuse #24 on the BCM, fuse #26 on the BCM just to be sure.

Assuming you used the bolt on the strut tower for ground when jumping.

I will move this thread to "problems and service".

That's because its a 2009 NOT a 2008 as stated in the TSB.

Battery discharge, have to recharge while disconnected from HHR.
Computers will act up !
Battery lobotomy will reset computers.

I had the same issue with my 2008, had to get a reflash from the dealer to reactivate the radio receiver module that is used for both tire sensors and keyfob.

I wonder, where in the car IS the radio receiver? And that antenna on the roof at the rear, is that for this receiver?
Inquiring minds want to know....
