Note the notches for the pins to line up the VVT phasers
Note the phaser timing marks 2 o’clock on the intake and 10 o’clock on the exhaust You might be 180 degrees out.
Rotate the crankshaft clockwise only , until you feel or hear air exiting #1 cylinder, ensure the piston come to TDC , check the timing mark on the harmonic balancer, there is a notch on the engine side it must line up with the mark on the front cover
See the raised line just above and to the right of the oil pump spring housing , just below the 10 KW marking

The cylinder head itself is the same between 2.2 and 2.4. What is different is the camshafts. Some cylinder head rebuilding shops don't seem to know. There were at least 2 cases reported here, I think it was last year.
But Firemangeorge is correct, start with the basics.
