2009 HHR shimmies going down road

I have a 2009 HHR I bought 2 weeks ago and it wobbles or shimmies going down the road. we just had the rotors turned. and it seemed ok for a day. But now its back at it again. Could the axles be bent? where do I go next. The dealer would fix it if we only knew what to do. I would like to hear from anyone that has had the same problem. WHERE DO I START NEXT?

Rotate tires front to rear and see if it changes

Check that all the nuts are down tight too.

You didn't mention the mileage. With the ease of changing out rotors and pads and adding some appropriate grease to the sliders . I'd change them all out and start fresh

to the forum!

There are a few possibilities as to what is going on, as pointed out in the posts above. But we need more information from you.

Does the shimmy occur during braking?

Is it only at low speeds, say less than 35 mph?

What sort of shape are the tires in?

How many miles are on the vehicle?

Did you use a wire wheel to clean off the backing plate? If not any rust or dirt left there could cause noise or shimmy.Rotors won't be sitting flat against the plate.

If it does it all the time, take it back to the dealer and tell them to test drive it.

The first thing that comes to mind is wheels not going on straight. They may be hanging up on the studs. Lug nuts can loosen up tremendously in that case - see if you can turn any of them by hand.

Along same lines, stretched studs due to previous over-torque could lead to loose lug nuts.

Possibly crud in acorn nuts.

You might drive off and not have any gross symptoms - for a while.

Something like balance or a rotor surface problem isn't likely to go away for a day and come back.

If the OP checks in again, I'd lay odds that they are experiencing a textbook case of brake judder. It's easily corrected, and easily prevented, we just have to wait for more info.
