2010 HHR SS 700 Miles Shifting Issue
2010 HHR SS 700 Miles Shifting Issue
2010 HHR SS Automatic 700 ish miles on odo- with that special you know kick added.
So let me bounce this off some of you. On the 16th (special day for me and da wifey) we went to dinner. This would be the farthest we've gone in the SS since purchase. So the day before I give it its first hand wash and park it in the garage. Friday evening we take off, gonna be about an hour an 10 to get to dinner one way, some e-way and local roads. I notice about 30 minutes or so into drive on e-way that it appears to have harsh downshift around 70 ish if passing gear even engages (dropping out of TCC, downshift out of OD). I play it off.
We have a great meal and set out on the way home. Head down Woodward towards I696 and I start to notice an immediate 1-2 and sometimes 1-3 or 1-4 upshift and apparent lugging. I can manually downshift to I and prolong the shift almost normal. This happens more then once and after exiting the e-way near our house it really is going 1-2 immediately under light throttle and even 1-2 then like 4 under light throttle. I can't stand it so I manually shift until we arrive home. Park it and don't drive again until middle of the day Monday. Of course the distance is about 1/8th versus Friday evening, but no issues.
Plan right now is to drive it again for time and distance equal to the Friday trip one way, let sit, then drive again. I at first was suspecting trash in the valve body as it gave me the impression of high transmission line pressure (i.e. repeated harsh shifts). But the early up-shifts throw me for a loop-then I think heat soaked TCM, possible issue there?
So, gotta see if it repeats, if so, I can only check ECM codes here at home, if none, off to the dealer it goes. Thoughts and comments appreciated. May be planning a weekend trip of couple hours road time and 300 ish miles in near future and my confidence is just a little shaken.
Otherwise, this thing runs like a scalded dog - I've come to appreciate it in a number of ways - needs stickier tires.

I know, I know.
Gotta see if I can duplicate it again, otherwise it would be a wasted trip.
Thought for a minute it may have been water in one of the modified harness connections....but the next day...after a good warm-up and sort of a heat soak?

Yea, don't fool around too long as the warranty papers say "return to dealership" as soon as possible. Don't give them any reason to decline anything. Hopefully your dealership is as good as the on I use.
Thanks, warranty coverage will not be an issue. I know people who know people.
