Problems/Service/RepairsIf you have a problem with your HHR, want a tip on repairing or performing a particular service to you HHR here is the place to post!
All started with a fuel vapor return line starting to seep.Ordered SS Braided lines for it and let car sit for 4 days. Lines came was going to a friends to use a hoist to replace them.
When i went to leave started car backed put started moving them power steering came up on the odometer and car started shifting hard.
Cleared Computer by disconnecting battery 15 mins.
all worked for 1/2 block then back to what it was
Fuel line seeping seems faster could this be causing the problem like a limp mode?
Any Ideas?
Thanks
David
Power steering notice could be you disturbed the wire at the fuse block .
fuel line seeping? On new lines did you order the multiple piece kit with multiple connections? You’ll have to tighten those connections.
Check the under hood fuse block , push all the fuses and relays in firmly, tighten the 4, 7mm bolts and snug up the 13 mm nut at the battery cable junction under the red cover
This ^^ red cover hides the 13 mm nut , just snug it tight. The 4 bolts tighten them past any popping sounds.
Vapor recovery fuel line was seeping now it is a bigger leak than 4 days ago could that mess with computer?
I have 1 piece SS Braided lines to replace old lines. Just not on yet, I need to get to hoist to do them.
wires all tight and fuses good in fuse box
Is there a pretty ChjeckEngineLight? Have jump started the car recently?
The vapor line does NOT carry fluid, it is not a return. They don't seep, they suck air.
Clearing codes makes diagnosing practically impossible.
Okay, Had no check engine light before this mess started and it was not on when this steering notice and shifting funny started this morning
no jumping car
forgot to add when steering warning comes on I also lost the speedometer 0mph and outside temp readings not listed
Thought it was vapor line cuz nothing until i shut off the car then it dripped a few drops now leaking more so must be pressure side starting to leak.
tryiing to crawl under it at least connect new lines to see if that helps

Reason: spelling
The fuel and vapor lines have absolutely nothing to do with this problem; zip/zero/nada. What else was diddled with between when normal and this? Anybody touch anything around the under hood fuse box? Any touching around the battery?
I would start by looking at the connections on the outside of the under hood fuse box; make sure there is 1 wire on the rear and 2 on the front and they are both secure. Then tighten the 4 bolts inside the fuse box to King Kong tightness; way tighter than you want to. Make sure the maxi-fuse near the battery is tight and good. Make sure all fuses in both fuse boxes are seated. Check the battery voltage, should be more than 12.5 volts.
Has the ignition switch recall been done? Link in my sig to verify. If you can't see it switch to the "full site".
fuel issue was just at same time that sucks.
Yes switch replaced
No one screwed with boxes or anything
I had gotten on hoist last Tuesday at a friends to find the leak drove home been parked until yesterday had to do a close errand that is when this started,
No speedo or outside temp readings when power steering warning came on and shifting is screwed up.
checked fuse box once will check again.
slapped fuel lines on just now, had disconnected the battery. all back together went for drive all good for 30ft
When car wanted to shift into 2nd it didn't want to go into gear (reved a tad and clunkish) it did after a second, but when it shifted into 2nd is when the steering warning comes on and steering goes out.with the rest
no engine light on
You need to check for codes. Even with no CEL on, there could be codes.
Heck. Maybe the CEL bulb is burned out or the OBD port is dead. Fuse #29 (cig lighter)powers that port.
