2011 HHR temp gauge problem
Because the last thing you need is the cooling fan if the coolant is too cool already.
The goal of the thermostat is to keep the temp ABOVE 180F. It doesn't care how much above, that is the fans domain.

I started my 2011 last night to drive home and the CEL or MIL came on, I was to tired to think about it, so I I planned to connect my code reader this morning, and sure as shooting, it’s the P0128 code !
I installed a new AC Delco 131-158 from RockAuto in December 11, 2020 flushed the coolant and refilled with fresh Dexcool 50/50 premix from Prestone. Just 40,000 klms ago.
Based on this I inspected the wiring to the CTS , I had replaced that also last December and a new pigtail. I cleared the code and I will be going for a drive today to see if it was a fluke , last night was first night down below freezing. This morning it’s just 28 F out there!
