ABS & Trac control light on...but not always

My ABS and Trac control light are on....but not always. Sometimes they shut off and both functions work when lights are off. When lights are on, both the ABS and trac control are non-functional (as you would expect). Problem seems to go away on dry days, but comes back on damp days....I'm thinking connection...dunno thou

Anyone else get this? Any ideas why the problem would be intermitent? Why would they be connected?

Any help is appreciated

Vehicle is an 06 HHR LT.

ChevyMgr rsponded to me that when ESC and TRACTION warnings appear on the DIC it is a sign of low battery voltage. It was with me. Heavy electrical load - heated seats, rear window defogger, headlights, heater fan - and short slow speed trips. Charged up the battery and warnings disappeared.

However, I continue to have a prblem with battery draining under short winter trips. Have now run an extension cord from the front bumper (where the block heater plug is) to the trunk (where the battery is). Installed a battery blanket and will permanently connect an automatic trickle charger when I find one. That way I can make my short trips and plug in my vehicle for a couple of hours to restore the battery a bit.

This has been a fairly common problem for some of us when we changed the intake/air filter. Is yours stock?

First step is for a tech to see what codes are set in the EBCM. Could be numerous things on yours and wiring or a connector problem is possible.

well....been a while, just thought I would update. Shortly after the lights stayed on all the time. Turns out it was the ABS sensor/bearing hub assembly (front right). For what its worth, the codes indicated it was the module itself, but the module was fine.

All's well that ends well....sensor was changed, and problem fixed

Just thought I would update just in case someone else runs along this issue.
