ABS wire cut Do I need a mechanic to clear code after fixing?

I was driving and all of a sudden my ABS and ESC light came on. My brakes still worked like they should . After I stopped and pulled the E brake and shut the car off to see if I could see anything and then got back in the parking brake light is now on. When I got home I took off the front passenger tire and found that the wire for the ABS/ESC wasn't held back like on the drivers side and looks like it got caught in the suspension and got cut. I spliced the wires together to test it and the ESC light turned off but the ABS and parking brake are still lit. Do I need to have a mechanic clear the code since an ABS issue is a safety issue? I have a bluetooth OBD reader that couldn't read any codes from this issue but it reads codes when I have had the service engine light on. Thanks in advance for the help.

Splice the wire either a butt connector or solder.

that harness shows obsolete.

NO. ABS codes can only be read when the ABS light is on, they are not saved.

The ABS light stays on and won't turn off. I suspect the obd reader I have isn't set up to read ABS codes is my thought. But even after soldering the wires back together the abs light still stays on but the traction control light has turned off.

I had this problem in the spring, had to rent a scantool to read the abs codes. It showed a code for the harness, but it was the short harness to the wheel speed sensor in the hub that was the issue

I have figured out what the final issue was. I hadn't driven it far enough after fixing it. Once I had driven it a short distance the parking brake light and the ABS light both went off. So if anyone runs into the same issue after fixing it just try driving it for a bit.
