actron scan tool not working

Question actron scan tool not working

Went to 2 different advance auto stores to get cel code read. The scanner does not work. What is the problem? fuse possibly? Which one?

Most likely the fuse. The one that powers your cig.lighter/power outlet also powers the scanner plug receptacle.
Read your owners manual. I believe it's fuse #30.

So there still lies the question: What caused the fuse to blow ?

On mine it was a lighter element that shorted to ground.

99% of the time it's that people think they have a cigar lighter, but have a 12 volt power outlet. Not Sleeper, I know you have the "politically incorrect package".

I recently found out that a complete Cigar Lighter is under $10 from GM, with the plug 'n play wiring. The power outlet is about $4. For those that care, you can get some things from a dealer for better prices than the big box.

Everyone needs their own scan tool and a list of codes. Also, Alldatadiy.com is a really good source of info.
