recommendations for a scan tool ?

Finally coming out of my cave, (since carbs & points don't seem to be coming back ) so thinking about scoring a decent hand held scan tool that can also do diagnostics, etc.

Any input appreciated.

Hey sleeper. LOL at comment about carbs and points.

I am kinda partial to the Innova scanners - had two of them over the years and found them very worthwhile to have in the tool box. Ya gotta shop around for the best price of course.

If you have a smartphone, you can get a bluetooth OBD2 device from ebay for <$20 and then buy the Torque software for your phone for ~$5. This will allow you to see quite a bit about what is going on with the car for a low cost. It of course can also read and reset codes too.

I wasn't aware that you can buy a bluetooth gizmo like this. I might have to give this a try.

So now I'm thinking "is there software for these readers to reset TPMS on my 2011 HHR?". Seems it would be cheap enough to resume rotating my own tires.
